I recently saw this in my data. My normal shoe is Altra Paradigm which is zero drop, but has a fairly high stack height 34mm.
I’m focusing again on trying to move to a more midfoot strike so I don’t do thousands of miles of bone bashing, landing on my heel.
I had a recommendation that I use a pronation control shoe, which I question as my pronation excursion is usually 15-18. In a shoe with 27mm stack height and 4mm drop my numbers are pretty close to those I see in the Altras.
Decided to give the Altra Impulse Flash which is similar to the Paradigm but a bit more flexible with a 23mm stack height a try out. While running they don’t really feel any different than Paradigms, but my footstrike type is up 2-3 for the entire run, in the mid foot range. So far braking G’s are lower as well.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
